PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State women's tennis team hits the road for a pair of matches this weekend, facing Weber State on Friday, April 10 (10:30 a.m. PT / 11:30 a.m. MT) and Idaho State on Sunday, April 12 (10:00 a.m. PT / 11:00 a.m. MT).
The Vikings (6-6, 2-3) enter the final stretch of the regular season, with this weekend accounting for two of their final three matches. Their regular-season finale is set for Saturday, April 18 at Sacramento State. To extend its season, Portland State will need to finish in the top six of the Big Sky standings. The Vikings enter the weekend in seventh, tied with Montana State at two conference wins, though MSU holds the tiebreaker following a head-to-head win earlier this season.
Portland State looks to bounce back from a tough 4-3 loss to Eastern Washington on April 4. Hana Abdelhamid, Nene Uemura and Kasumi Hirayama each picked up singles wins in the loss. Hirayama and Uemura both finished the afternoon 2-0 after teaming up for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Marta Giglio leads the Vikings with a 9-3 singles record entering the weekend. The sophomore has played all five conference matches at line two, going 3-2 in Big Sky play.
The Vikings defeated both Weber State and Idaho State in 2025, but trail both series. The Wildcats have only two wins this season and are 0-4 in conference play heading into Friday's match. Idaho State is third in the standings, heading into the weekend with a 4-2 record against conference opponents.
