Payten Shimizu turned in her best round of the spring with an even-par 72 to lead the Portland State women's golf team in the final round of the Bobcat Desert Classic. The Vikings placed eighth among 13 teams competing with a solid team score of 898.

Shimizu had three birdies and three bogeys in her round of 72. The Viking senior finished at 230 over the 54-hole event at The Golf Club of Estrella. She tied for 43rd among 80 golfers competing.

Another senior had her best round of the week on Wednesday as
Bayler Brundage shot a two-over par 74. Brundage finished at 78-77-74=229 and placed 42
nd. Brundage made five birdies in her round.

The top finisher for the Vikings was sophomore
Maddie Dustin, who placed 19
th overall. Dustin shot 71-73-78=222 over the three-day event. It was one stroke off her season-best score for a 54-hole tournament.

Cynthia Valerie Ong, a junior, placed 36
th at 71-74-81=226. She remains the team's overall scoring average leader this season with a 75.29 average per round.

Momo Udom shot 83-82-80=245 for the Vikings and placed 76
th.

Over three rounds, Portland State posted scores of 293-301-304=898. It marked the third time this season the Vikings have broken 900 as a team.

Seattle won the tournament with scores of 289-289-295=873. The Redhawks were nine-over par and beat host Montana State by three shots (876). Utah Tech was close behind at 878 and Wyoming shot 880.

Kiley Reisner of Wyoming broke out of a five-way tie for first place with a final-round 69 to win the individual title. Reisner finished at five-under par 211. Three players were three shots back at two-under 214.
