Goodyear, AZ – Maddie Dustin turned in another outstanding round of golf for the Portland State Vikings and is just two shots off the lead as they head to Wednesday's final round of the Bobcat Desert Classic at The Golf Club of Estrella.
 
Dustin, a sophomore, shot a one-par 73 in the second round of the tournament and is at even par through 36 holes of the 54-hole event. She is two shots back of five players tied for the lead at -2:  Avery Bartels of North Dakota State, Zoe Rubichon and Blayne Brown of Seattle, Kiley Reisner of Wyoming and Pusanisa Ekkatrong of California Baptist. Dustin is currently tied for eighth place.
 
Scoring increased by nearly one-half stroke per player in the second round over round one. That led to a 301 team total for the Vikings. They are tied for sixth place with Weber State in the 13-team event at 293-301=594.
 
Seattle leads the tournament with 289-289 for a two-over par total of 578. Host Montana State is second at 582.
 
Junior Cynthia Valerie Ong posted a 74 on Tuesday and she is a stroke behind Dustin in a tie for 11^th with 71-74=145.
 
Freshman Caithlyn Ong is tied for 29th among 80 golfers. She has rounds of 73-77=150.
 
Also with a 77 on Tuesday was senior Bayler Brundage. She is at 155 total and tied for 48^th.
 
Payten Shimizu, also a senior, is tied for 60^th with 78-80=158. Junior Momo Udom, playing as an individual, has posted 83-82=165.
