PORTLAND, Ore. – In their final tune-up before Big Sky play, the Portland State women's tennis team will host Lewis–Clark State College this Friday (Feb. 27), followed by the University of Portland on Sunday (March 1). Both matches are set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
The Vikings enter the weekend with a 3-2 record, coming off a 5-2 road loss at Washington State last week.
Marta Giglio helped the Vikings take two points from the Cougars—PSU's most against WSU since 2013. She claimed a singles point with a 6-4, 6-4 win at line three, following a 7-6 (7-2) victory at No. 1 doubles alongside
Hana Abdelhamid.
Kasumi Hirayama and
Nene Uemura added a 6-2 win at line two to secure the opening point for PSU—the Vikings' fourth consecutive doubles point, improving to 11-3 as a team.
Prior to the trip to Pullman, Portland State cruised to consecutive sweeps of Puget Sound, Pacific, and Linfield. Friday's matchup against the Warriors will mark the seventh meeting between the programs, but the first since 2019. On Sunday, the Vikings face the Pilots for the 26th time in program history. Although PSU's only win over UP came in 2021, the Vikings have threatened in every match since, dropping 4-3 results in three of the last five meetings.
