Nika Beukers Selected as Big Sky Nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year

FARMINGTON, Utah - Portland State women's tennis standout Nika Beukers added another honor to her résumé Thursday, as the Big Sky Conference named her and Idaho State volleyball product Jamie Streit as the league's nominees for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Beukers, who concluded her four-year career with the Vikings this past spring, excelled both on the court and in the classroom during her time in Portland. She is the Vikings' second consecutive NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, following PSU track and field standout Jamie Zamrin, who received the honor from the conference in 2024.

Beukers capped her senior season with a host of accolades, highlighted by being named Portland State's Big Sky Scholar-Athlete of the Year in July. A four-time Big Sky All-Academic selection and three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, the Netherlands native also earned three ITA Scholar-Athlete awards and helped the Vikings secure the Big Sky Team Academic Championship for women's tennis in 2024 and 2025—all while completing three degrees and maintaining a 3.96 GPA.

On the court, Beukers put together one of the most successful careers in Portland State women's tennis history, recording 74 combined singles and doubles wins—the second-highest total in program history. This past spring, she earned her third all-conference doubles honor, receiving honorable mention alongside freshman partner Kasumi Hirayama. With six victories at the No. 1 spot during her senior season, she became just the fourth player in program history to reach 30 career singles wins. Beukers departs the Rose City ranked second all-time in doubles wins (44), including a program-record 23 Big Sky victories, and helped guide the Vikings to three Big Sky Championship tournament appearances, most recently in 2025.

The Woman of the Year Selection Committee, consisting of representatives from NCAA member schools, will select the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division — from the pool of conference-level nominees. Later in the fall, the committee will narrow that group by naming the top three honorees per division, forming a total of nine finalists. From those nine, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year. All honorees will be recognized during the Woman of the Year Award Presentation at the NCAA Convention in Nashville in January.

Since its creation in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year program has celebrated graduating female student-athletes who excel in academics, athletics, community service, and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
