MOSCOW, Idaho – The Portland State men's tennis team dropped a road dual to Idaho on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0 at the Kibbie Dome.
The loss moved the Vikings to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in Big Sky play, while the Vandals improved to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
Idaho controlled doubles play, securing the opening point with wins at lines one and two. The Vikings battled in singles action, with freshman Luca Prino challenging Idaho's veteran Francisco Gay but ultimately falling 7-5, 7-5.
Meanwhile, Andrin Zuellig and Simon Kuszynski pushed their Vandal opponents to three sets. Zuellig, playing at No. 4, pushed Lai Yu-Shiun to the limit before suffering a 6-0, 5-7, 7-6 (4) loss. Kuszynski, who entered the match on a four-match win streak, did the same at No. 6, battling Eric William Lang in a three-setter but falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The Vikings return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 9, against Eastern Washington at 10:00 a.m.
