Kageyama, Ong Shoot 74 In Final Round Of Alice and John Walker Women's Golf Classic

Palm Desert, CA – Avery Kageyama shot her best score as a Portland State Viking this season with a three-over par 74 in the final round of the Alice and John Walker Women's Golf Classic at Monterey Country Club. She was matched by teammate Cynthia Valerie Ong, who also shot a 74 for the Vikings.
 
Kageyama, a graduate transfer, and Ong, a sophomore, also led the team with three-day totals of 233 over 54 holes. They led Portland State to its best score of the tournament, as the Vikings finished 21st with 313-316-306=935.
 
Fifth-ranked University of Oregon ran away with the victory, beating third-ranked USC by 23 strokes. The Ducks were a remarkable 34-under par with 276-276-266=818. USC came in at 841. Pepperdine was third, another 22 strokes back, at 863.
 
Suvichaya Vinijchaitham of Oregon won the individual title at 12-under par with 68-69-64=201. Catherine Park of USC and Kiara Romero of Oregon tied for second place at 10-under par 203.
 
Kageyama and Ong tied for 83rd on the individual leaderboard among 120 golfers.
 
Junior Bayler Brundage also shot a 74 in the opening round of the tournament. She tied for 88th with 74-81-79=234. Junior Payten Shimizu was one shot back in 93rd at 75-81-80=236. Sophomore Momo Udom had her best round of the tournament on Monday posting 83-81-79=243 overall.
