BOISE, Idaho - The Portland State women's soccer team couldn't overcome a two-goal deficit in their season opener on Friday evening, falling to Boise State 2-1 at Boas Soccer Stadium in Boise.

The Vikings (0-1-0) conceded two goals in the first half but showed resilience in the second, tightening their defense and holding the Broncos (1-0-0) scoreless for the remainder of the match. Offensively, Portland State struggled to find opportunities early on, managing only three shots in the first half. However, they found their rhythm after the break, firing off 10 shots in the final 45 minutes.

Kainani Jacang, who set up Saldana for the first collegiate goal of her career.

Natalie Cunningham played the entirety of the contest in goal for Portland State, facing a total of 24 shots from the Broncos before finishing with seven saves.

Portland State will return to action on Sunday, Aug. 18 when they travel to Eugene to take on the Ducks. Kick off is set for 1:00pm at Oregon's Papé field.
