PORTLAND, Ore. — A schedule drop means basketball is near, and that's always a good thing. Such is the mood Wednesday as the Portland State women's basketball team released its 2022-23 non-conference schedule.
Â
The 10-game non-conference schedule features six home games, plus a home exhibition against Lewis & Clark on Nov. 3. That pushes the Vikings' full season to 28 regular-season games, as the Big Sky Conference announced an 18-game, double round-robin league schedule
back in July.
Â
The Vikings open with back-to-back home games on the first week of the season, as they host Warner Pacific on Nov. 7 (6 p.m.) and San Diego on Nov. 12 (1 p.m.). The team hits the road for two games the following week, as they face Seattle U on Nov. 17 (TBD) and Boise State that Sunday, Nov. 20 (1 p.m. PT / 2 p.m. MT).
Â
A return home comes Nov. 26 – fittingly the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend – when Utah Valley comes to Viking Pavilion (2 p.m. tip). The Vikings remain home for a game against Fresno State on Dec. 1 (6 p.m.) before heading to Pepperdine for a road game Dec. 3 (1 p.m.).
Â
A cross-town battle is set for the following weekend, as the Vikings head across the river to face the University of Portland Dec. 10 (5 p.m.) in the Pilots' Chiles Center.
Â
Two home games then round out the Vikings' non-conference schedule, as the Vikings host New Mexico State on Dec. 17 (2 p.m.) and Evergreen on Dec. 20 (6 p.m.).
Â
The Vikings remain home for the start of Big Sky play, as they kick off the conference schedule with a three-game homestand. League play starts on New Year's Eve, as the Vikings host Sacramento State for a 2 p.m. tip.
Â
The Vikings head into their 2022-23 schedule with four starters back from last season, as well as five of their top six scorers. Additionally, the Vikings bolstered their roster with six newcomers, giving the team a full 15-player bench.
