OGDEN, Utah – The Portland State women's tennis team was unable to rebound from dropping just its second doubles point this year, as they were defeated 6-1 by Weber State in the final match of the weekend.

The Vikings fell to 4-6 and 0-2 in Big Sky action while the Wildcats improved to 6-4 and 2-0 in conference action.

The Wildcats started strong, picking up back-to-back doubles victories to clinch the opening point. Nika Beukers and Capu Sanoner earned their seventh consecutive win at the No. 1 spot, defeating Sicely Ferreira and Megan Davies 6-4 to avoid the doubles sweep.

Weber State earned five-straight victories in singles action, clinching the match with a win at the No. 6 spot. Beukers got the Vikings on the board on court three, battling her way to a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (7) victory over Pei-Hsuan Kuo.

The Vikings will return to action next weekend on the road when they take on Boise State (March 5) and the College of Idaho (March 6).
