Golf Coach
Kailin Downs is leaving Portland State as she has accepted the Head Coaching position at Boise State University.
Downs leaves PSU after eight seasons and many successes with the Viking program. Her teams captured eight tournament titles over that span, including the 2014 Big Sky Conference Championship. Downs was named the 2014 Big Sky Coach of the Year. PSU finished in the top three in four of the seven Big Sky Championships played during Downs' tenure.
Downs' players earned 20 All-Conference awards, two Conference Player of the Year awards and two Freshman of the Year awards. There were also 21 Academic All-Conference honors and 23 school scoring records set.
Downs will take over the Boise State program in July. In the meantime, Portland State will immediately begin a search for a new head coach.
Portland State women's golf has won seven Big Sky Conference titles during the past two decades – 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2014 – the most of any Viking sports program.
