Capu Sanoner Named Big Sky Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

FARMINGTON, Utah - Capu Sanoner of the Portland State women's tennis team notched her first career Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor after going 4-0 in Big Sky play this weekend.

The freshman from Marcq-en-Baroeul, France has had a stellar debut season so far and this weekend was no different. Sanoner has yet to drop a conference match as she improved to a perfect 8-0 against Idaho and Eastern Washington.

Sanoner led PSU to its third-straight Big Sky win on Friday over the Vandals. Alongside doubles partner Makoto Ohara, Sanoner captured a 6-2 win at line No. 1 before earning a come-from-behind win at No. 2 singles (2-6, 6-3, 6-3) to help clinch the 4-3 decision for the Vikings.

In the Vikings' dual against Eastern Washington on Sunday, Sanoner and Makoto began the day with a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Although the Vikings fell short in the match, Sanoner capped off her weekend with another win at line two, defeating her EWU opponent 7-5, 6-2.

Sanoner's doubles victory on Sunday marked her 14th individual win in doubles action as she tied the program record for individual doubles wins in a single season.

Sanoner will look to continue her impressive campaign on April 24th against Seattle.
