Vikings Add Game against Air Force on Dec. 28

PORTLAND, Ore. — It's a Festivus miracle. Rather than facing another cancellation, the Portland State women's basketball team added a game Wednesday. The Vikings will travel to the Air Force Academy for a game against the Falcons at 1 p.m. (PT) / 2 p.m. (MT) on Dec. 28.

The game against the Falcons will be only the second of the season for the Vikings, who have had six of their first seven games canceled. The Vikings played their first game of the season on Dec. 16, when they beat Dixie State 63-53 on the road. That game came after only seven 5-on-5 practices for the Vikings, who will have nearly doubled that total by the time they play the Falcons.

Monday's game against Air Force will lead in nicely to the Vikings' Big Sky opener, which got delayed but will now come in a weekend series against Eastern Washington on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2. The Vikings host the Eagles at Viking Pavilion with a 6 p.m. tipoff on Dec. 31 and a 12 p.m. tipoff on Jan. 2.

The Falcons will be coming off their first win of the season, as they beat Denver 82-79 in a rematch of a game earlier in the season. The Falcons lost 72-56 to Denver in their season opener, and followed with losses to Colorado (88-46) and Western Colorado (77-70).
