A Happy Thanksgiving! Viking Teams Approved For Competition

The turkey will taste a little bit better on Thursday for the Vikings.

On Wednesday afternoon, Portland State Athletics received an exemption from the Oregon Health Authority to move forward with athletics activities consistent with the OHA approved protocols. University President Stephen Percy followed with approval from campus to resume activities as well.

Prior to receiving the exemption from the OHA, Portland State men's and women's basketball teams had been unable to participate in full contact practice leading into the 2020-21 season. They now have permission for full contact practice and competition.

Portland State's women team will open its season on Monday evening, hosting a game against Simpson University in Viking Pavilion. PSU's men will play at University of Portland on Saturday, Dec. 5. Each team opens its Big Sky Conference season on Dec. 18.

All Portland State home games will be played without fans. However, a free live stream is available of all games on Pluto TV Channel 1001 or Pluto TV.

The addition of other non-conference games remains a possibility.
