Lahaina HI - Portland State slipped two spots on the leaderboard in the second round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at the Kapalua Bay Course. The Vikings shot 313 on Tuesday and now have a 620 team total, placing 12th among 15 teams with one round to play.
Senior A Ram Choi shot a remarkably steady round, posting an even-par 72. Choi made 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey. She has a two-day total of 75-72=147 and is tied for 14th.
UC Davis moved into the tournament lead with a one-under par 287. The Aggies, at 290-287=587, passed the University of Texas, which held the first-round lead. Texas is now second at 288-294=582. Oregon moved up four spots to third place with the round of the day posting a four-under 284. The Ducks are at 585 for 36 holes.
Andrea Wong of UC Davis shot a four-under par 68 on Tuesday. She passed teammate Paige Lee on the individual leaderboard. Wong is in first place at 71-68=139, followed by Lee at 68-72=140.
Viking freshman Hansol Koo made two birdies in her second-round 75. Koo is tied for 29th at 76-75=151.
Junior Valentina Trillo is tied for 69th among the 91 competitors. Trillo has posted 77-86=163 over two days.
Senior Kelly Miller is at 84-80=164 and tied for 70th. Junior Alyssa Waite has shot 79-86=165 and is tied for 75th.
"A Ram struck the ball really well today," said Viking Coach Kailin Downs. "She had a lot of looks at birdies, so I am looking for her to go low tomorrow."
"Kelly had a better day, unfortunately she didn't finish well. We've got to get Val and Alyssa to minimize the big holes and play more consistently. Alyssa has the ability to light it up on this course with her length," said Downs.
The Anuenue Spring Break Classic concludes on Wednesday with the final round. There is a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. HT. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
