Sanchez Fernandez took first at the Interclubs Boys and Girls Tournament, shooting a three-under par 69.

She was also third at the Doral Public Classic, fourth at the Trophee Deis Regions and second at the Spanish National Interclubs. Sanchez Fernandez shot 79-78=157 to tie for 36th in the stroke play portion of the 2013 Girls British Amateur Championship.

"I am excited to have Sonia join our Viking Family in the fall," said Head Coach Kailin Downs. "Her experience with the Catalan Federation program will play a big role in her transition to Division 1 collegiate golf. She has also represented her country, training and competing for the national team. I look forward to her stepping in and having an immediate impact on our program."

Sanchez Fernandez will join a Viking program that won the Big Sky Conference Championship in 2014. It was PSU's seventh Big Sky title in 12 years. Three starters - two-time Big Sky Player of the Year A Ram Choi, Kelly Miller and Alyssa Waite - return next season.
