SPOKANE, Wash. —
The Portland State men's tennis team had three players in action late in the two singles draws at the Gonzaga Fall Tournament Sunday, but couldn't bring home any hardware as the late-round matches didn't go the Vikings' way on the final day of the tournament at the Stevens Center.

Junior Wil Cochrane advanced to the championship match of the lower singles flight Sunday, but lost a heartbreaking first set in a tiebreaker to third-seeded Sergio Chip in the final, and eventually lost 7-6, 6-1. Cochrane advanced to the final after beating teammate Ian Risenhoover 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Sophomore Ethan Lopez, meanwhile, qualified for the semifinals in the top singles flight after Saturday, but faltered in his match against Idaho's Felipe Fonseca Sunday, losing 6-3, 6-1 to fall just short of the championship match of the draw.

The Vikings will next compete at the PNW Intercollegiate Tournament in Seattle, Wash., which will start Friday, Nov. 7 and go through Sunday, Nov. 9. The PNW Intercollegiate Tournament will be the Vikings' final tournament of their fall season.
