VANCOUVER, Wash. – Marina Todd won her third match in her last five but the Portland State women's tennis team fell to Eastern Washington, 5-2, in Big Sky Conference play Friday morning at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver, Wash.
 
Todd and doubles partner Megan Govi took their No. 2 doubles match by a score of 8-5 but the Vikings could not win the doubles point and dropped the other two doubles matches by scores 8-5 apiece.
 
Turning to singles play, Alexa McDonald quickly lost her match by scores of 6-3 and 6-0 at No. 4 to give the Eagles a 2-0 dual lead.
 
Govi took care of business as the Vikings No. 3 singles player winning in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-2 to bring the dual score 2-1 in favor of Eastern Washington. The win was the fourth overall for Govi on the season and second Big Sky singles match win for the freshman.
 
Audrey Farr lost as the Vikings' No. 1 in straight sets. She lost the first set 6-1 and was down early in the second set but fought back in and forced a set tiebreaker which she would eventually lose to drop the second set 7-6 and the match.
 
Senior Marti Pellicano fought throughout her singles match after dropping the first set by a score of 7-5. She took the second set 6-3 but then dropped the decisive third set by a score of 7-5 to lose the match and give the Eagles the dual win.
 
Todd picked up her first Big Sky singles match win of the season in three sets. She won the first set 7-5 but dropped the second set 7-6 in a set tiebreaker (7-3). She then took the third set 6-4 for her third win in her last five matches bringing the dual score to 4-2.
 
Nayanatara Vadali finished play for the Vikings dropping a tough three set match. She lost the first set 6-2 but then rallied to take the second set 6-1 to force a third set match tiebreaker. She dropped the tiebreaker 10-2.
 
The Vikings return to the court on March 18 against Linfield at Club Green Meadows. The match is slated to start at 12 p.m.
