FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Portland State women's tennis team dropped the first dual of their two-duals in two-day swing through Colorado to Colorado State Saturday morning in Fort Collins, Colo. The Rams swept the Vikings 7-0.
 
The Vikings (3-12 overall) lost all three doubles matched to drop the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles duo of Ashley Spencer and Marti Pellicano had the closest doubles match of the three losing by a score of 8-5.
 
Spencer brought the lone bright spot on the day for the Vikings as she made her Portland State dual debut after being injured and then unable to contribute throughout the fall and winter.  The two-time Oregon 6A doubles champion made her doubles debut but then made her singles debut as the Vikings' No. 1 singles player.
 
Pellicano was the first to finish for the Vikings and lost at the No. 3 line in straight sets as did Alexa McDonald at the No. 2 position giving the Rams a 3-0 dual lead.
 
The Rams took the dual victory at 4-0 when Marina Todd Dropped her No. 5 singles match by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Nayanatara Vadali dropped her match by scores of 6-2 and 6-2 before Spencer fell in straights sets 6-3 and 6-2.
 
Megan Govi made the most of her No. 4 singles match. She dropped the first set 6-3 before pushing the second set to the max before falling by a score of 7-5.
 
The Vikings now head to Greeley, Colo. to take on Big Sky Conference foe Northern Colorado on Sunday.
