Vikings Set Out on Conference Road Trip

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State women's tennis team hits the road this weekend for a two-dual conference road swing. The Vikings will first heat to No. 49 Sacramento State for a Friday dual slated for 9 a.m. PST. They will then head to Pocatello, Idaho to take on Idaho State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
The Vikings are coming off of a 0-2 weekend in their first home duals of the season. They fell by a score of 5-2 to Seattle University. Marti Pellicano and Alexa McDonald picked up their first and second win of the season respectively. McDonald and Nayanatara Vadali also won in doubles competition. The Vikings then fell to Montana, 7-0, to open conference play.
 
The Vikings (1-5 overall, 0-1 Big Sky) are looking for their first Big Sky Conference dual win of the season. They open up play this weekend at Sacramento State (2-3, 0-0) who has wins over Fresno State and at Washington State. The Hornets are 9-21 as a team this season during singles play and 6-7 as a team during doubles play.
 
The Vikings then head to Idaho State to (0-2, 0-0) who will be playing in its first conference dual of the season. The Bengals opened the season with an 8-0 loss against Seattle University and a 7-0 loss against Utah State.
 
This weekend starts a five-game road schedule. Following this weekend on the road, they head to Bozeman, Mont. to take on Montana State – Billings and then Montana State on Feb. 25 and Feb. 26 respectively.
