PSU Challenges Lewis & Clark and UC Davis

PORTLAND, Ore.
- After opening the season down in Eugene, Ore., Jan. 21 against Oregon, the Portland State women's tennis team will remain in the confines of the Portland-metro area to take on Lewis & Clark Jan. 29 and UC Davis Jan. 30.

The match versus the Pioneers will be at their tennis courts, while the match against the Aggies will be at the Vikings 2011 home facility, Club Green Meadows.

The Vikings opened the season Jan. 21 against Oregon and fell, 7-0. Freshman Marina Todd was the only player to send her match to a third set. After falling in the first set, 6-3, she would rally in the second and win 6-3, but eventually fell in the third, 6-0.

The Pioneers are opening their spring season against the Vikings on Saturday and it will be their only match of the weekend. Last year against the Viks, Lewis & Clark rallied to take the doubles point from the Vikings, but were unable to overcome in singles.

UC Davis is 1-2 this season, having defeated Iowa State, 4-3, and falling to Pac-10 foes Stanford and Arizona State. Megan Heneghan, at No. 2, Nicole Koehly, at No. 4, and Kelly Chui, at No. 5, are all 1-2 overall this season in singles.

Portland State returns to action next weekend, heading to Utah to take Big Sky foe, Weber State Feb 4 and Utah State the following day.
