PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland State head volleyball coach
Michael Seemann has always valued versatility within his program. The Vikings added a piece to that end Wednesday as
Jordyn Romano joined the Vikings as a middle and right-side hitter.
Â
Romano comes to the Vikings after previous stops at Buffalo (2025), Mt. San Antonio College (2024) and Fort Lewis (2023). She helped lead Mt. SAC to a 20-8 record and a conference title in 2024. She also earned first-team all-conference honors as well as SoCal All-Region Team honors at Mt. SAC after leading the team in kills and blocks.
Â
At Buffalo, Romano started 14 of the team's 27 matches this past season while averaging 1.48 kills and 0.57 blocks per set. She led the team's right-side hitters in kills.
Â
"Jordyn's collegiate experience as a multi-position player, will give us a lot of options this fall. She's quick, explosive, and versatile. Having her join the program this spring will be key to integrating her into our systems," Seemann said of Romano.
Â
Romano's versatility extended to her high school career as she lettered in basketball and track in addition to volleyball. She placed seventh in the triple jump at the 5A state meet in high school. Additionally, she competed for the Norco Volleyball club team since her sophomore year of high school.
Â
Romano will add experience to a right-side position that will still be relatively young for the Vikings next fall. Freshmen
Willow Watson and
Brenna Coffman, as well as redshirt freshman
Amber Walker, all saw time on the right last season.
