PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland State volleyball team completed its 2026 roster Tuesday with the addition of 5-11 Serbian outside hitter
Magdalena Ranitovic.
Â
Ranitovic brings a wealth of international experience to the Vikings even as an incoming freshman this fall. She was named the best outside hitter at the Junior Girls Final Tournament of Vjovodina in 2026 after earning MVP honors at the same tournament in 2024. Both years, she helped her team win the gold medal at the tournament. Additionally, she helped lead her team to the bronze medal at the 2026 Junior Girls National Championship.
Â
"Magdalena is a highly skilled six-rotation outside attacker who has a tremendous amount of competitive experience, playing in the Serbian leagues," Portland State head coach
Michael Seemann said of Ranitovic. "She is a motivated athlete who is talented and ready to make an immediate impact on our program. She is calm and effective in the passing lanes, and is very efficient both in and out of system as an attacker."
Â
Ranitovic joins fellow incoming freshman
Katarina Kosic from Bosnia and Herzegovina in giving the Vikings' 2026 recruiting class an international flavor. Senior transfer
Asya Akbulut from Turkey will add to that as well. Ranitovic and Kosic join four other incoming freshmen in
Katelyn Davey,
Maryn Hall,
Xanthe Ocampo and
Alyssandra Ordona to give the Vikings a full roster of 18 players.
Â
The Vikings will play two exhibition matches at Corban on Aug. 15 and at Seattle U on Aug. 22, before officially opening their season at cross-town rival University of Portland on Aug. 28.
