Portland State Athletics had 58 student-athletes recognized as Academic All-Big Sky Conference honorees for fall sports as released by the league today. Among fall sports teams, the women's volleyball program excelled with a 3.54 team GPA.
The Vikings excelled academically overall with every athletics program compiling a 3.2 team GPA or higher. PSU's overall student-athlete GPA was 3.41. The women's golf team led the way with a 3.87 GPA. Women's softball (3.74) and men's basketball (3.58) set program records. A total of 65 students had perfect 4.0 GPAs.
To be eligible for academic All-Big Sky Conference honors for fall sports, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. For cross country student-athletes, they must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions or competed at the conference championship.
