A program-record 15 members of the Portland State softball team have been named All-America Scholar-Athletes by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
The honor recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate academic excellence by earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2024–25 academic year.
Under ninth-year head coach Meadow McWhorter, the Vikings have earned at least seven selections to the list every season. This year, they more than doubled that mark, with 15 players honored—including five freshmen, two sophomores, one junior, and seven seniors.
Leading the way with perfect 4.0 cumulative GPAs for the 2024–25 academic year were freshmen Nichole Orozco, Elise Sanchez and Scarlett McEwen along with senior Annie Lemos. Lemos and fellow senior Neveah Smith each earned the distinction for the fourth time in their careers. Senior Natalia Martinez received the honor for the third time. Rounding out the Vikings' honorees were Jade Henry, Ellie Babbitt, Grace Johnson, Gracie Walters, Sherreigh Nakoa-Chung, Anna Jardin, Sophia Guerra, Kendall Nevin, and Gracie Toney.
The All-America Scholar-Athlete honor adds to a series of academic accolades, including Academic All-Big Sky recognition earned by 15 Viking softball players last month. Additionally, Lemos, Martinez, Smith, Jardin, and teammate Lorraine Alo were named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
A full list of Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athletes from all three NCAA divisions will be released later this month.
