FARMINGTON, Utah — Emma Stolte has four top 10 finishes this season, three top five finishes, and now two Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors to her name after earning her second honor of the fall Tuesday.
 
Stolte is the first Viking – male or female – to earn two Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors in the same season. Only Melissa Telford had been honored more than once, but she did so across two seasons in 1998 and 1999.
 
Stolte earned her latest honor after recording her third straight top five finish Saturday. Facing the deepest and most talented field yet this season at the Bronco Invitational, Stolte placed third overall in the women's 6k behind only Santa Clara's Milaina Almonte (20:06.5) and UC Santa Barbara's Addie Oversmith (20:33.6).
 
Stolte finished in 20:37.4, shaving 12 seconds off the 6k personal best she set three weeks earlier at the Mike Johnson Classic. She moved up to fifth all-time in the 6k at Portland State with the finish.
 
Stolte earned her first Athlete of the Week honor of the season after winning the Ash Creek Festival on Sept. 12 – the first individual win by a Viking (man or woman) since 2022. She was also the top collegiate runner at the Mike Johnson Classic on Sept. 27 while placing fourth overall.
 
She's 4-for-4 in top 10 finishes this season. If Stolte goes 5-for-5 with a top 10 finish at the Big Sky Championships on Nov. 1, she'll tie Amber Rozcicha in 2012 and Melissa Telford in 1999 for the most top 10 finishes in a single season by a Viking, male or female.  A top 10 finish at the conference meet would also make Stolte only the eighth different Viking to earn All-Big Sky honors in cross country.
