OMAHA, Nebraska - The Portland State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the undefeated Omaha Mavericks on Friday evening at Caniglia Field.
The Vikings fell to 0-4-0 on the season while the Mavericks extended their unbeaten streak to 4-0-2.
The Vikings had the better chances in the first half, recording four shots while their back line limited the Mavericks to just a single attempt in the opening 45 minutes. However, Omaha came out aggressive after halftime, recording three shots that led to a pair of corner kicks in the first seven minutes. Shortly after, they scored the eventual game-winner in the 52nd minute.
Searching for the equalizer, the Vikings had several opportunities in the final six minutes, but the Mavericks held firm to secure the 1-0 win.
Both teams finished with nine shots apiece, but Omaha had a significant edge in corner kicks, earning nine to the Vikings' one.

The Vikings will look to rebound this Sunday when they face South Dakota at 11 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. CT in Vermillion.
