PORTLAND, Ore. — Any college student knows you learn the most when you challenge yourself. That's top of mind on the Portland State University campus with classes starting next week. The Portland State women's basketball team will fulfill that ethos this season, as the Vikings will play no counting games against lower division teams for the first time in 16 seasons.
The Vikings released their full 2024-25 schedule Friday. They had already announced their
Big Sky Conference games, as well as their two games as part of the
Big Sky-Summit Challenge, but Friday's release brought the remaining non-conference games to light.
The Vikings will play one non-counting game against a lower division school, as they'll host Montana Tech out of the NAIA in an exhibition on Nov. 3. After that, the Vikings officially open their season with a home game against Hawai'i on Nov. 9.
The Vikings spend the following week on the road, playing at San Francisco on Nov. 12 and Seattle U on Nov. 16.
They'll return home for two games across the weekends before and after Thanksgiving. The Vikings will host Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 24, then stay home for a game against UC Davis on Nov. 30.
The Big Sky-Summit Challenge comes the following week, with the Vikings hosting Omaha on Dec. 4 before playing at Denver on Dec. 7.
The Vikings will play their intra-city rivalry game against the University of Portland at the Pilots' Chiles Center on Dec. 13. They'll then close out their non-conference schedule at home against Air Force on Dec. 20.
A two-week break will give the Vikings the chance to reset ahead of Big Sky Conference play, which will get underway on Jan. 4 with a home game against Sacramento State.
