Vikings Golf Coach Bill Winter Returns To USGA Senior Amateur Championship

For the second time in four years, Portland State Women's Golf Coach Bill Winter will compete in the USGA Senior Amateur Championship. Winter begins competition on Saturday at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, TN. 
 
Winter's first-round tee time is 9:30 a.m. ET/6:30 a.m. PT. In Sunday's second round, he tees off at 2:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT. The top 64 qualifiers in the field of 156 will move to match play beginning on Monday.
 
Winter, a native of Portland, was the medalist in local qualifying for the USGA Senior Amateur on July 22. He shot an even-par 72 at the OGA Course in Woodburn, OR.
 
Winter, who has been the Vikings Head Coach since 2021, has been a prominent local amateur player for several years. He also qualified for the Senior Amateur in 2021. Winter shot 73-79=152 to miss the cut by four strokes that year.
