Lorraine Alo Receives NFCA Second Team All-Pacific Region Honor

Portland State softball's Lorraine Alo has been named a Second Team All-Pacific Region honoree by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Alo is the first freshman in program history to earn the honor, following a First Team All-Big Sky selection earlier this season and an All-Tournament Team recognition at the Big Sky Tournament two weeks ago. Additionally, she became Portland State's first-ever Big Sky Freshman of the Year and the first freshman to earn a spot on the NFCA's Top 25 National Division I Freshman of the Year list.

In her first year on the Park Blocks, she helped lead the Vikings to a 23-win season and a second-place finish at the Big Sky Tournament, excelling in her role as the designated player. During the regular season, Alo boasted the second-highest batting average in the conference (.406) along with a team-leading three home runs, 28 RBI, a .594 slugging percentage, and a .479 on-base percentage. During conference play, Alo maintained an impressive .457 batting average and an astounding .528 on-base percentage, while contributing 16 RBI over 14 games.

The Kaneohe, Hawaii native added to her impressive stats at the Big Sky Tournament, hitting .632 (12-for-19) with two home runs and four RBI. Her final batting average was .440, surpassing the Vikings' previous single-season program record of .415, set in 1980.

Alo is the second player under eighth-year head coach Meadow McWhorter to earn a Second Team All-Region honor. She was one of six Big Sky players to earn a regional accolade and one of only two named to the second team.
