PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State softball team announced its 2024 schedule on Friday. A total of 40 games are scheduled for the regular season, including three non-conference tournaments, five conference series, and 14 home games at Gordon Faber Field.
The Vikings are set for a familiar start to their season with back-to-back road tournaments. They'll begin play at the UC Riverside Invite (Feb. 9-11) where they'll face Oklahoma State in the season opener, who finished ninth in the national polls last season. The weekend will conclude with two games against both Utah State and UC Riverside.
The Vikings will then compete at the Santa Clara Invite on Feb. 16-18, taking on Nevada, Santa Clara, San Jose State, and Fordham.
Saturday, Feb. 24 marks the Vikings' home opener, a much earlier date than previous seasons. They'll host Pacific (Ore.) for a doubleheader at Gordon Faber Field 4.
Shortly after, the Vikings will travel to Hawaii for the University of Hawaii Invitational (Feb. 29-Mar. 1). They're set to face LMU, Tennessee State and Hawaii while in Honolulu.
PSU will take a weekend off before hosting Oregon State for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 12. The home stand will continue with a pair of doubleheaders against Seattle on March 16-17. Non-conference action will conclude March 22-23 with a three-game series against the University of Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
The Vikings' focus will shift to conference play on March 29-30 when they head to Pocatello, Idaho for their Big Sky opening series against Idaho State. Following their trip to Pocatello, the Vikings will return home to host Weber State (April 5-6) before heading to Sacramento State to face the Hornets (April 12-13). A road series at Montana (April 20-21) and a home series finale against the defending Big Sky Tournament Champion Northern Colorado Bears (Apr. 26-27) will wrap up the regular-season schedule.
The Big Sky Championship Tournament will be held in Pocatello, Idaho from May 8-11. The tournament champion will earn the Big Sky's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
