Mazel Tov! Vikings Sign Israeli Guard/Forward Alma Rashelbach

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland State women's basketball team stretched its spacing. On the floor, but more so on the map as the Vikings signed Israeli guard/forward Alma Rashelbach, head coach Chelsey Gregg announced Friday.

Rashelbach, who will join the Vikings as a freshman next season, played for the U14, U16 and U18 national teams within Israel. She won a U16 national championship with her club team, as well as three straight first-place finishes during the U18 national league season.

"Super excited to have Alma join the Viking family," Gregg said of Rashelbach. "Alma brings good size and physicality to our team, along with being a great team player and having the ability to score at all three levels. She has a great work ethic, loves to be in the gym, and is a versatile player."

Rashelbach becomes the second international athlete on the Vikings' roster for next season, joining returning junior Sofía Llanos. She'll also add depth on the wing for the Vikings as a 6-0 guard/forward.

Rashelbach's signing gives the Vikings 12 players for the upcoming 2023-24 season. In addition to nine returners, the Vikings have three freshmen joining the fold in Rashelbach, Ella Kaleta and Laynee Torres-Kahapea. The Vikings anticipate signing up to three more players before the end of the spring.
