Four Vikings Earn All-Big Sky Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah - Following the most successful season since 2017, four members of the Portland State women's soccer team were recognized as All-Big Sky honorees on Thursday.

Sienna Higinbotham highlighted the group as a first-team selection, while Hailey Green earned a spot on the second team. Abi Hoffman and Raniyah Burton received honorable mentions.

This is the highest number of all-conference selections the program has achieved since 2017. Higinbotham is the first player to receive first-team honors under head coach Katie Burton, a feat not achieved since Katie Forsee in 2016.

Higinbotham was a key contributor for the Vikings in conference play, ranking third in the Big Sky with eight points and tying for first with four goals. The fifth-year midfielder recorded a total of six goals and one assist during the regular season. Additionally, she scored three game-winning goals, playing a crucial role in the Vikings' most successful season in six years. The Albany, Ore. native shined against Idaho and Eastern Washington, scoring three goals over the weekend to win her first-ever Big Sky Player of the Week award. Throughout the regular season, Higinbotham amassed a total of 13 points, with 24 shots on goal and an impressive .828 shot-on-goal percentage. The honor is Higinbotham's third All-Big Sky recognition, following an Honorable Mention in 2021 and a second team nod in 2020.

Also receiving recognition in her final year as a Viking is Green, a fifth-year defender. Green was an honorable mention selection a year ago and holds one of the longest complete-game streaks in the NCAA, having played in 36 consecutive matches without leaving the field. The native of Folsom, Calif. played every single minute of the regular season, anchoring the Vikings' defense with a team-high 1,440 minutes played. Green was instrumental in the team's three shutout victories against conference foes Northern Arizona, Sacramento State, and Weber State.

Rounding out the group are honorable mentions, Burton and Hoffman. Hoffman, a junior midfielder from Troutdale, Ore., received her first conference honor after leading the conference with four assists against Big Sky opponents. In addition, she scored two goals and ranked third in overall points, tallying a total of 15 during the regular season. Burton, a 5'2 senior forward, earned Big Sky honors for the second consecutive season. She finished the regular season with 8 points (3 goals, 2 assists), recording one assist in conference play. In a standout performance earlier this season, Burton was named Big Sky Player of the Week after a seven-point weekend against CSUN and UC Riverside. The Richmond, Calif. native started all 16 matches for PSU, clocking 952 minutes of action.
