SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Portland State women's soccer team continued to roll on Sunday, notching its second conference victory of the season and second consecutive shutout in an exciting 1-0 win over Sacramento State at Hornet Field.

It was a big road victory for the Vikings, who have won four of their last five matches. They'll enter their final home stand next weekend with a 5-5-1 record while sitting first place in the Big Sky following a 2-0-1 start. The Hornets suffered their first conference loss on Sunday, falling to 3-6-3 overall and 1-1-1 in Big Sky play.

Sunday's match was largely a defensive battle as neither team found the net in the opening half. Despite being held to a season-low eight shots, the Vikings converted when it mattered most. Abi Hoffman's corner kick in the 73rd minute was the decisive play for Portland State as Audrey Williams slipped the game-winner into the lower right corner of the net. Williams' goal was the first of her Portland State career, while Hoffman recorded her second assist of the season.

Despite 12 shots, Sacramento State only managed to put one on goal in the contest. PSU's defense stood up to the Hornets in crucial moments, including four corner-kick opportunities to keep them off the board. Viking goalkeeper Eden Millan improved to 2-2 on the season while securing her first career shutout. Among the Vikings' 11 starters, eight of them played the full 90 minutes.

Portland State will look to build on its first-place momentum next weekend when they host Idaho on Friday, Oct. 6 (6:00 p.m.) and Eastern Washington on Sunday, Oct. 8 (1:00 p.m.).
