PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State men's tennis team is back in the Pacific Northwest this weekend for a pair of non-conference matches. The Vikings will open the weekend with their home opener on Friday against Lewis & Clark at Tualatin Hills (4pm) before facing crosstown rival Portland at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center on Saturday (10am).
Portland State will play at 4pm on Friday alongside the women's match against Linfield, a first since Tualatin Hills became its home court.
With a slew of new faces leading the way, the Vikings are still coming into their own. They'll look to bounce back after an 0-2 start to their season on the road last weekend, dropping matches to UC Santa Barbara (7-0) and Grand Canyon (6-1).
Gregory Gruenig is the only Viking with a singles win this season after defeating Grand Canyon's Paolo Rosati last Sunday at the No. 5 spot (6-3, 7-6).
A victory over the Pioneers on Friday is well within reach for PSU, as the Vikings have won 12-straight matches over Lewis & Clark. A win at Portland on Saturday would be the Vikings' first-ever victory over the Pilots.
