Vikings Shoot Best Score Of Tournament In Final Round Of Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

Maricopa, AZ – Portland State put together its best round of the tournament on Tuesday as the Vikings wrapped up the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in 21st place. PSU shot 322-313-310=945 over three rounds at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes.
 
Senior Windy Huang shot a PSU tournament-best 75 on Tuesday. It was a nice bounce-back round for her after a pair of rounds in the 80s on Monday. Sophomore Katie Harris was the top Viking overall with 78-78-78=234 over 54 holes.
 
Portland State's 310 score moved it ahead of Montana State in the final round. The Vikings finished one shot behind Montana after leading the Griz for a portion of the final day.
 
Santa Clara took the Cowgirl Classic title with rounds of 292-293-295=880. Long Beach State finished three shots behind at 883, with California Baptist coming in at 885.
 
Claire Choi of Santa Clara took the individual title by coming in two shots ahead of Boise State's France Polla. Choi posted a three-under par 70-71-72=213.
 
Harris was the Vikings' top golfer, tying for 71st among 117 competitors. Just one shot behind her was senior McKenna Maser, who shot 81-76-78=235.
 
Freshman Mari Nakamura tied for 88th at 82-77-79=238. Huang posted 82-83-75=240.
Mariana Garcia Rosette shot 81-82-81=244.
