Vikings Place 11th At Big Sky Championship, Mariana Garcia Rosette 18th Individually

Scottsdale, AZ – Northern Arizona came away with the Big Sky Conference Golf Championship on Wednesday at Talking Stick Golf Club after posting an eight-over par 872 total over three days. The Lumberjacks beat second-place Sacramento State (878) by six shots.
 
Portland State placed 11th in the Championship with a three-day total of 312-300-309=921.
 
Senior Windy Huang posted the best score of the day for the Vikings with a 76 on Wednesday. McKenna Maser, also a senior, shot a 78. Those two were playing their final round as Vikings.
 
Also scoring for the Vikings in the final round were Mariana Garcia Rosette with a 77 and Katie Harris with 78. Mari Nakamura shot 80 and led the Vikings with four birdies in the final round.
 
Playing in her first Big Sky Conference Championship, Garcia Rosette was the Vikings top finisher in the tournament with 73-75-77=225. The sophomore placed in a tie for 18th among 55 golfers.
 
Harris, also a sophomore, finished at 78-70-78=226. She placed in a tie for 21st.
 
Maser finished the tournament at 233 and in a tie for 39th. Huang was tied for 47th with a 238 total. Nakamura placed in a tie for 53rd with 244.
 
Ekaterina Malakhova of Northern Arizona won the individual title shooting a five-under par 211 total. She posted 68-69-74 over three days. Malakhova and her NAU teammates now advance to the NCAA West Regional Championship.
