Viking Golfers Place 15th At Red Rocks Invitational

Sedona, AZ – Katie Harris led the way and McKenna Maser had the round of the day for Portland State as the Vikings tied for 15th in the 19-team Red Rocks Invitational.
 
Harris was PSU's top finisher, tying for 37th among 104 competitors. She shot 78-73-77=228 over the 54-hole event at Oakcreek Country Club. Maser posted a PSU career-best 73 in the final round, matching the low round by a Viking in the tournament.
 
Grand Canyon University took the tournament title with a one-over par 289-287-289=865. The 'Lopes beat host Northern Arizona by six strokes (871). Portland State had its best score in the final round finishing at 309-314-305=928 to tie with Stephen F. Austin.
 
NAU's Eliska Kocourkova took the individual title with a five-under par 68-73-70=211. Siripatsorn Patchana of Grand Canyon was one shot behind with 72-71-69=212.
 
Senior Windy Huang was two shots behind Harris, posting 75-76-79=230. Huang tied for 50th overall and was tied for ninth with 36 pars over 54 holes. Harris, a sophomore, had a team-high eight birdies to rank 22nd among all golfers.
 
Maser, a senior, tied for 66th overall at 80-82-73=235. Her previous best single-round score at Portland State was 74, accomplished twice.
 
Sophomore Mariana Garcia Rosette had a good bounce-back round on Sunday finishing at 78-86-76=240 to tie for 86th. Freshman Mari Nakamura tied for 91st at 78-83-80=241.
 
The Vikings were among eight teams from the Big Sky Conference competing in the tournament. They finished sixth among the group of eight.
