Viking Golfers Complete First Day Of Frost-Delayed Red Rocks Invitational

Sedona, AZ – Portland State is currently in 14th place after day one of the Red Rocks Invitational Golf Tournament at Oakcreek Country Club. The Vikings shot 309 in their morning round. However, a frost delay prevented the tournament from completing two full rounds due to darkness. Most players have two to three holes to complete when they resume on Sunday morning. Then the final round immediately follows in the 54-hole event.

Host Northern Arizona led after the first round with a four-under par 284. Illinois State shot 287 and Grand Canyon posted 289.

Eliska Kocourkova of Northern Arizona shot a four-under par 68 to lead after the first round. She is two-over par in her second round through 16 holes. Jocelyn Chee of California Baptist has taken over the lead at four-under par with two holes left in round two.

Viking senior Windy Huang shot a team-best 75 in the morning round. Katie Harris, Mari Nakamura and Mariana Garcia Rosette all posted six-over par 78, and McKenna Maser shot 80.

Huang is currently tied for 43rd among 104 golfers at seven-over par. She has three holes remaining in her second round.

The Vikings are among eight Big Sky Conference teams competing in the Red Rocks Invitational. They are currently fifth among those eight teams.
