Phoenix, AZ – Portland State completed the Grand Canyon Invitational with its best single-round and tournament scores of the 2021-22 season, placing 14
th among 20 teams competing.

The Vikings shot 300-313-305=918 over the 54-hole event at Grand Canyon University Golf Course. The opening round 300 was a season-best by four shots. The 918 total was a season-best by 13 shots among five scoring tournaments this year.

Grand Canyon won its own event, finishing at four-under par as a team with 279-291-290=860. The 'Lopes were five shots ahead of second place Santa Clara (865) and six shots ahead of SMU (866). Alexis Linam of Grand Canyon won the individual title at three-under par 71-73-69=213.

PSU got a strong tournament from senior
Windy Huang, who tied for 29
th among 104 golfers. Huang shot a consistent 74-75-75=224, matching her season-best tournament score set last fall, and only three shots off her career-best tournament score.

Sophomore
Katie Harris also shot three rounds in the 70s with 75-76-78=229 and tied for 55
th.

Senior
McKenna Maser bounced back from a difficult second round for a solid tournament at 75-82-75=232. Maser had six birdies in her final round and a team-best eight in the tournament.

Freshman
Mari Nakamura matched her season-best score with a final-round 77. Nakamura tied for 74
th with 78-80-77=235, establishing a new tournament low score as a Viking.

Sophomore
Mariana Garcia Rosette placed 96
th with 76-89-84=249.

The Vikings were fourth among six Big Sky Conference teams competing in the tournament. Northern Arizona was seventh, Idaho was eighth, Southern Utah placed in a tie for 10
th, Montana State was 17
th and Eastern Washington was 18
th.
