Palm Desert, CA – Seniors Windy Huang and McKenna Maser each held on for victories on the 18^th hole while sophomore Katie Harris took her match in 17 holes, leading the Vikings to a 3-2 win over Cal State Fullerton at the Mountain Classic Match Play.
 
Competing for the first time this spring, the Vikings won two of their three matches in the Match Play over the past two days, taking third place in the eight-team event. Seeded sixth among the eight teams, PSU defeated third-seeded Utah Valley in Monday's opening round, lost to second-seeded Boise State in the semifinals on Tuesday afternoon, then beat the fifth-seeded Titans on Tuesday.
 
Huang took her match 2-up by making birdie on the final hole. It was her third birdie of the round.
Maser took a 1-up lead to the 18th and tied the hole to win her match. Harris ended her match 2-and-1 on the 17^th hole.
 
For the tournament, Harris came away with the best record for the Vikings at 2-1-0 in her matches. Maser was 1-1-1. Huang and freshman Mari Nakamura were 1-2-0, and Mariana Garcia Rosette finished at 0-2-1.
 
Top-seeded Seattle won the tournament, beating second-seeded Boise State, 3-2-0, in the final.
