Lorraine Alo, Brooke Subia Sign With Vikings

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland State softball head coach Meadow McWhorter announced the signing of Lorraine Alo and Brooke Subia on Thursday. The pair of incoming freshmen will join the Vikings softball program in the fall of 2023.

Subia and Alo are both products of the Orange County Batbusters, a travel ball club that also produced current Vikings Maddie Thompson and Sherreigh Nakoa-Chung.

Alo, a first baseman out of Kaneohe, Hawaii signed her Letter of Intent on Wednesday. A three-year letter-winner in softball at James Campbell High School, Alo also lettered in wrestling. She is the sister of former University of Oklahoma softball standout and Team USA member, Jocelyn Alo.

"We are excited for Lorraine to add power to our lineup," McWhorter said. "Her quiet confidence, power and softball IQ will be an asset to our program."

Subia will come to Portland from Covina, Calif. A three-time first-team all-league shortstop at Charter Oak High School, Subia was named Defensive MVP of the 2022 San Gabriel Valley All-Star game. Subia was a 2021 and 2022 All-CIF softball selection, while also earning three letters in volleyball.

"Brooke will make an immediate impact with her communication, energy and presence on the field," McWhorter said. "She is an experienced, gritty infielder who will make a difference."
