Dining Dollars Now Accepted within Viking Pavilion for All Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball Games

Food fight! No, don't do that. But the memorable scene from Animal House conjures up images of student dining, which is coming to Viking Pavilion for the first time this year.

Students attending all Portland State athletic events in Viking Pavilion can now use Dining Dollars at the northeast concession stand within the arena. The program will start at the Vikings' volleyball match against Sacramento State this Saturday and continue for the remainder of the volleyball season as well as the entire men's and women's basketball seasons (November to March).

The deal will only apply to the northeast concession stand, above the student entrance through the Richardson Lounge/Versa Café. Additionally, Dining Dollars may not be used on alcoholic beverages. All other concession items may be purchased through Dining Dollars. Cash and credit/debit cards will still be accepted at the northeast concession stand for all other fans as well as at its sister stand in the southwest corner of the Pavilion.

"Allowing Dining Dollars at our athletic events further enhances the student experience at Portland State University as we strive for an inclusive environment for all our students," Jon Jensen, Director of Sales and Service for the Portland State athletic department, said of the new policy. "This is a campus-wide effort to help create the best student section in the city of Portland, the State of Oregon, and eventually the nation."

Students attending all volleyball and men's and women's basketball events must enter through the Richardson Lounge/Versa Café entrance. All students need is a valid PSU ID to get in for free. Students are then asked to sit in the designated student section – nicknamed "The Ship" – behind each basket or each end line for volleyball.
