Harris Matches Career-Best At Hobble Creek Fall Classic; Vikings Take 16th

Springville, UT – Sophomore Katie Harris matched her career-best 54-hole score to tie for 26th at the season-opening tournament, the Hobble Creek Fall Classic. Harris shot 77-72-77=226 on the Hobble Creek Golf Course over two days, leading the team with seven birdies.
 
Portland State placed 16th among 17 teams competing in the event. PSU posted 320-309-315=944 in three trips around the 6,032-yard, par-71 course.
 
Gonzaga held on to win the tournament with scores of 291-294-286=871. The Bulldogs were 12 shots ahead of a second place tie between Cal Poly and Weber State (883). Kimberlee Tottori of Northern Arizona took the individual title with an even-par 72-71-70=213.
 
Matching Harris with scoring honors for the Vikings on Tuesday was freshman Mari Nakamura, who also posted a 77. Senior McKenna Maser shot 78.
 
Maser came in as the number-two Viking with 85-77-78=240, tying for 78th among 100 golfers.
 
Senior Windy Huang was one shot behind, tying for 80th. Huang carded 79-79-83=241.
 
Mariana Garcia Rosette shot 79-81-83=243. It was her best score in her brief Viking career dating to last spring.
 
Nakamura finished at 87-83-77=247.
