Anthony Adams Takes Home A Third All-America Honor

Anthony Adams rounded out his post-season recognition list today with a third nod as a first team FCS All-American. Adams was honored by the Walter Camp Foundation as one of 25 players named to their All-America list. Adams had previously been named first team All-American by Associated Press and STATS.

Adams, a 6-foot, 185-pound sophomore from Newberg, led the nation in passes defended in 2019. His five interceptions and 19 pass breakups led the Big Sky Conference in each category. Adams ranked 13th in the nation in interceptions. He also had 56 tackles, two tackles for loss and blocked a kick on special teams. Adams broke the Portland State school record for pass breakups in a season (previously 15).

In other honors, Adams placed 12th in the balloting for the Buck Buchanan Award, honoring the top defensive player in the nation at the FCS level. He was a first team All-Big Sky Conference choice and also was selected to the Hero Sports FCS Sophomore All-American team. His first team All-America honors make him PSU's first first-team All-American since 2015 when another Viking safety, Patrick Onwuasor (now of the Baltimore Ravens), also won the honor.

Adams now has 26 PBUs in his two seasons on the Park Blocks and already ranks sixth for a career. He is on pace to break the school career record (33). Overall, he has 104 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 26 pass breakups and a fumble recovery in 23 career games.
