Portland State rounds out its non-conference tournament schedule this week at the 2017 Rebel Classic hosted by UNLV March 10-12. The Vikings will face New Mexico State, DePaul, Southern Illinois, and UNLV twice in Las Vegas, Nev.

FIRST WIN
Portland State picked up its first win of the season with a 4-3 win over Rhode Island in the final game of the GCU Invitational last weekend in Phoenix, Ariz. Not only did the Vikings get their first win of the year, but it was the first NCAA Division I win for first-year Head Coach
Meadow McWhorter.
YOUNG SQUAD
Portland State added 11 freshman to the roster heading into the season. The 11-member freshman class is tied for the largest in the country this year.
FRESHMAN COMING TO PLAY
Several freshmen have made an impact on the Vikings' starting lineup in a very short amount of time. Freshman OF
Marissa Bruno leads the Vikings with a .351 batting average after hitting safely in all five games last week at the Louisville Slugger Invitational in Stockton, Calif. She hit. 571, going 8-for-14 with 3 runs, 2 doubles, a triple, and a team-high 4 RBIs.
GOING STREAKING
Marissa Bruno and
SheaLee Lindsey are both currently riding seven-game hitting streaks heading into this week's action. Lindsey is hitting.533 with 3 runs scored over her streak while Bruno is hitting .476 with a team-high 10 hits over the last seven games. She is also slugging .667 with a .542 on-base percentage.
4 FOR SHAE
Senior OF
Shae Nelson posted the team's first 4 hit game of the season, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and a run batted in against Seton Hall.
BATS COME ALIVE
The Vikings' bats erupted for a season-high 14 hits against Seton Hall on March 4. Unfortunately for the Vikings, they stranded 10 runners and suffered a tough 8-5 loss.
PITCHING WOES
The Portland State pitching staff had a tough go of it last week at the Louisville Slugger. They gave up a combined 53 runs, 46 earned, over just 26 innings pitched. They combined to give up 39 hits and 25 walks but what made matters worse was the 15 home runs allowed over the five games. For the season, the pitching staff has allowed 124 runs, 101 earned, over 84 1/3 innings for an 8.38 team ERA.
UP NEXT
Portland State will begin the non-tournament portion of its schedule next Wednesday, March 15 at the University of Oregon. The Vikings and Ducks will play two games in Eugene starting at 4 p.m. PT.
NEW MEXICO STATE AGGIES

Team: The Aggies are 4-10 overall this season, 0-5 away from home. They opened the season 4-1 but have lost their last nine games. They are hitting .282 as a team but have been outscored 79-56 on the season. NMSU has committed 18 errors, leading to 21 unearned runs.

Pitching: The pitching staff has a combined 4.67 ERA after allowing 58 earned runs over 87 innings. Kayla Green is 2-6 with a 4.20 ERA. She has allowed 53 runs, 33 earned, over 55 innings. Opponents are hitting .277 off her with nine double, a triple, and 10 home runs.

Hitting: Kelsey Horton leads the team with a .432 batting average. She is 19-for-44 on the year with 8 runs, 6 doubles, 3 home runs, and 11 RBIs.
DEPAUL BLUE DEMONS

Team: The Blue Demons are 9-6 overall this season and have yet to play a home game. They opened the year 4-6 but went a perfect 5-for-5 last weekend at the Winthrop Tournament in Rock Hill, S.C. They have outscored opponents, 70-62, this season and have committed just nine errors in 15 games.

Pitching: The pitching staff has allowed 62 runs, 60 earned, over 95 2/3 innings this season for a 4.39 team ERA. Missy Zach and Kennedy Garcia are both 4-2 on the season with 2.89 and 3.23 ERAs respectively. Zach has thrown a team-high 46 innings and has a team-high 51 strikeouts.

Hitting: Haydn Christensen leads the team with a .366 batting average on the year. She leads the team with 15 hits and 11 runs scored. She also has three of the team's 18 home runs.
UNLV REBELS
•
Team: The Rebels are 13-7 overall this season and 7-2 at home. They are hitting .276 as a team and have outscored opponents 82-77 this season. They have struggled in the field, committing 40 errors, but they have only allowed 19 unearned runs.

Pitching: The Rebels have combined for a 3.01 team ERA after allowing 58 earned runs over 135 innings this season. Morgan Ettinger is 11-2 with a 2.12 ERA and has throws a team-high 66 innings. She has struck out 48 and walked 14.

Hitting: Brianna Gatlin leads the team with a .357 batting average. She leads the team with 20 hits, 12 runs scored, 5 doubles, 11 walks, and a .571 slugging percentage.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS SALUKIS

Team: SIU is 9-10 overall this season, all coming in neutral site games. They are 1-4 in their last five and have dropped two straight.

Pitching: The pitching staff has combined for a 3.16 team ERA after allowing 58 earned runs over 128 2/3 innings this season. Three different pitcher have multiple wins this season led by Brianna Jones' 4-4 record. She has a 2.50 ERA over 61 2/3 innings this season.

Hitting: Shaye Harre leads the team with a .388 batting average on the year. She is second on the team with 19 hits and 12 RBIs.
