Vikings' Lutz, Orozco Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Portland State softball's Breanna Lutz and Nichole Orozco have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, earning the honor for the first time in their careers.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, softball student-athletes must compete in at least 90 percent of their team's contests or start at least 66 percent of games. Nominees must also hold sophomore athletic and academic standing and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Both Lutz and Orozco earned the honor as Criminology and Criminal Justice majors, marking the third straight year the Vikings have had at least two CSC Academic All-District honorees.

A junior transfer from Ramona, California, Lutz earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors at third base following a standout 2026 campaign in which she led the Vikings in on-base percentage (.440), slugging percentage (.532) and total bases (59). Orozco, a sophomore from Gardena, California, started all 46 games for the Vikings in 2026, totaling 30 hits, 17 RBI and 67 putouts in the outfield.
