THIS WEEK: The Vikings take their 2-1 record on the road this week to the Bulldog Showdown hosted by Fresno State in Fresno, Calif. Portland State opens the week with host Fresno State on Friday, Sept. 2 at 10:30 a.m. PT before taking on cross-town rival Portland later in the day at 5 p.m. in just the fifth neutral site match in the series. The Vikings conclude the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 3 against DePaul at 10 a.m.
   Portland State is coming off its best opening weekend since 2010. The Vikings opened the season with a four-set win over Long Beach State at the Peter W. Stott Center. They followed that with a come from behind five-set win over Colorado. It was the Vikings first win over a Pacific-12 Conference opponent since defeating Oregon at home in 2005. Â
   This week begins the Vikings' longest stretch of road game of the season. They will play their next 11 matches away from home and 15 of the next 17. They play nine straight non-conference road matches before opening Big Sky play on the road. Portland State will play six of its first eight league matches on the road.Â

OFFENSIVE POTW: Senior OH
Pati Anae earned her first Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week award after leading the Vikings to a 2-1 record over the opening week of the season. Anae hit .348 while averaging 5.00 kills per set, which is 11th in the nation. She posted 19 kills and nine digs in the opener against Long Beach State before posting a career-high 28 kills in the Vikings' win over Colorado. She added 18 digs for her first double-double of the season against the Buffaloes.Â
PAC-12 WIN: Portland State came back from down 2-1 in the match to defeat Colorado in five sets for its first win over a Pac-12 opponent since defeating Oregon in 2005. The Vikings took the first set 28-26 before dropping the next two sets. Portland State took the fourth set, 25-19, to force a fifth. The fifth set stayed tight throughout before the Vikings took it, 16-14, to take the match. Portland State had four players with double-figure kills led by
Pati Anae's career-high 28 kills. The win was the first over a Pac-12 opponent for 10th-year Head Coach
Michael Seemann.
FRESNO STATE QUICK HITS
• Fresno State is 4-0 overall this season after wins over LIU Brooklyn (3-2), Boston College (3-0), Hartford (3-0), and New Hampshire (3-0).Â
• Fresno State is hitting .239 on the season and is averaging 13.8 kills per set. The Bulldogs are allowing opponents to hit just .140 this season with 9.9 kps.Â
• The Bulldogs are averaging 14.29 digs and 2.00 blocks per set and have combined for 25 service aces.Â
• Senior OH Aleisha Coates leads the team with 3.71 kps this season. She has tallied double-digit kills in all four matches this season and posted double-doubles in each of the first three.Â
VS. FRESNO STATE: Portland State is 7-0 all-time against Fresno State since 1980. However, the Vikings and Bulldogs have not met since the 1985 season. Portland State took three matches from Fresno State in September of '85.Â
PORTLAND QUICK HITS
• Portland is 2-1 overall this season with a Pac-12 win of its own. After dropping its opener to Seattle, 3-1, the Pilots defeated Oregon State in Corvallis in five sets. The Pilots were down 2-0 before winning the final three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 15-8. They then defeated Utah State in straight sets to close out their opening weekend.Â
• Portland is hitting .246 as a team this season with 13.00 kills per set. The Pilots are averaging 12.58 assists, 14.92 digs, and 2.12 blocks per set. They have also tallied 34 aces over the three matches.Â
• Junior OH Hannah Troutman leads the team with 41 kills on the season (3.42 kps). She is hitting .216 and is averaging 2.00 dps.Â
VS. PORTLAND: Portland State and Portland have played each other 52 times since the 1984 season but the teams have played just four times at a neutral site. Portland State is 32-19 overall all-time and 3-1 at a neutral location. The Pilots have taken each of the last two matches, including last year's match, which the Vikings wish they had back.Â
Portland State took the first set in commanding fashion, 25-12, last season before dropping the next three. The Vikings hit .357 in the first set but then it .000, .171, and .139 over the final three frames.
DEPAUL QUICK HITS
• DePaul enters the weekend as the only team at the Bulldown Showdown with a losing record, 1-2. The Blue Demons opened the season with a win over Loyola Chicago (3-1) before falling to Northern Illinois (1-3) and Iowa (0-3).Â
• The Blue Demons are hitting .163 this season with 11.91 kills per set. They are averaging 10.90 assists, 12.82 digs, and 2.00 blocks per set. They have struggled at the service line with 13 aces compared to 21 service errors.Â
• Sophomore RS Brittany Maxwell leads the team with 3.27 kills this season. She is also hitting a team-high .271. She is averaging 1.36 digs and 0.55 blocks per set.Â
VS. DEPAUL: It will be the first match between Portland State and DePaul.Â

• The Vikings are 2-1 overall this season. They were 2-1 at home, 0-0 on the road, and 0-0 in neutral site matches.Â

Pati Anae, a senior outside hitter from Laie, Hawaii.
• She was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week (Week 1).Â
• She leads the conference, 11th in the nation, with 5.00 kills per set. She is 13th in the nation with 5.54 points per set.Â
• She opened the season with 19 kills and nine digs, while hitting .425 (19-2-40), in a win over Long Beach State (8/26).Â
• Her .425 hitting percentage was the highest individual hitting percentage since Katie O'Brien hit .619 (13-0-21) at Oklahoma in 2014 as a middle blocker.Â
• She posted her first double-double of the season with a career-high 28 kills and 18 digs in the Vikings' five-set win over Colorado (8/27). She hit .393 (28-6-56) against the Buffaloes.
• She became the first Viking since Jaklyn Wheeler in 2012 to post 25-plus kills in a match with her 28 against Colorado. Â
• She tallied 30.5 points against the Buffaloes, the most since Whitney Phillips in 2011.Â
• She missed her second double-double with 18 kills and nine digs against Texas Tech (8/27).

Katy Wilson, a sophomore middle blocker from Highlands Ranch, Colo.
• She is averaging 1.46 kills per set while hitting a team-high .359, fourth in the Big Sky.
• She opened the season with four kills and a career-high seven blocks (1-7). Her seven blocks matched the individual high for the team in 2015.

Eva Linden, a sophomore outside hitter from Milton, Wash.Â

• She opened the season with back-to-back double-digit kill performances over Long Beach State (8/26) and Colorado (8/27) with 13 and 12 kills respectively. She missed out on her third consecutive double-digit kill performance with nine against Texas Tech (8/27).Â

Kylie Copple, a junior setter from Aurora, Colo.
• She has started all three matches as the Vikings' setter. Leads the team with 10.55 assists per set, fourth in the Big Sky.Â
• She recorded her first double-double of the season with a career-high 65 assists along with 13 digs in the Vikings' win over Colorado (8/27).Â
• She became the first Viking with 60-plus assists since Garyn Schlatter recorded 62 against Gonzaga in 2012.Â
