THE WEEKEND
: Portland State continues its three-match home stand this weekend when they host Nevada (11 a.m. PT) and Grand Canyon  (7 p.m.)Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Peter W. Stott Center.

LAST TIME OUT
• Portland State took the first set against Portland before dropping the next three sets to lose 3-1. 
• Portland State hit a season-high .357 in the first set while going 11-for-12 in sideout opportinuties.  
• JR OH Pati Anae recorded her second double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. 
• SO S Erin Clark recorded her her first double-double of the season with 18 assists and 10 digs. 
Eva Linden tallied a career-high 16 kills against the Pilots. 

NEVADA NOTES
• Head Coach Lee Nelson is in his first season at Nevada. Nevada is 1-2 this season. 
• The Wolf Pack opened the season with back-to-back 3-0 losses to California and Seattle U. Nevada picked up its first win with a sweep of Eastern Washington. 
• Nevada is hitting .131 this season while opponents are hitting .191. The Wolf Pack average 11.3 kills per set. 
• The Wolf Pack average 1.67 blocks per set while opponents are averaging 3.44 bps. 
• Madison Foley leads the team with 3.22 kills per set and is hitting .154. Madison Morell is averaging 2.78 kps. 

SERIES WITH NEVADA
• Portland State leads 4-1 all-time and 3-1 at Portland State.
• Portland State took the first meeting in 1981. Portland State took the last meeting in straight sets on Sept. 1, 2012. 

GRAND CANYON NOTES
• Grand Canyon is 0-3 on the season after falling to Pittsburgh and Nebraska in straight sets and Tulsa in four sets. 
• Natalie Tardy leads the team with 3.30 kills per set. No other player has more than 1.60 kps (Jordyn Sanchez). 
• Grand Canyon is hitting .105 as a team and is averaging 9.70 kills per set while opponents are hitting .264 with 15.00 kps. 
• GCU is averaging 1.50 blocks per set while opponents are averaging 2.05 bps. 

SERIES WITH GRAND CANYON
• Portland State leads 3-0 all-time with all three matches coming in the 1992 and 1993 seasons. 

PLAYER NOTES 
• JR OH Pati Anae leads the team with 3.14 kps and has two of the team's three double-doubles on the season. 
• Anae posted 15 kills and 12 digs at Gonzaga (8/29) and 14 kills and 11 digs against Portland (9/2). 
• SO S Erin Clark posted her first double-double of the season, sixth of her career, with 18 assists and 10 digs against Portland (9/2). 
• FR OH Eva Linden is second on the team with 2.50 kps after recording a career-high 16 kills against Portland (9/2). 
• Sophomore setters Clark and Kylie Copple have shared setting duties so far for the Vikings. Clark is averaging 4.71 assists per set while Copple is adding 3.43 aps. 
• SO MB Sarah Liva leads the team with 18 total blocks (1.29 blocks per set). Liva led the team in blocking in 2014.
• Liva tallied seven blocking assists against Portland (9/2), the most since Katie O'Brien posted seven blocks against Sacramento State last season. 
• Anae recorded five service aces against Portland (9/2), the most since Leigh-Ann Haataja posted three against Southern Utah last season. 

SCHEDULE NOTES
• Portland State opened the season at the Northwest Challenge for the fourth-straight season, eighth-straight overall. Portland State is now 8-16 all-time at the Northwest Challenge taking two matches on the weekend three times. 
• Portland State and the University of Portland co-host a tournament this weekend. It is the first tournament hosted by the Vikings since the 2013 Big Sky Tournament. 
• The Vikings will face off against a pair of Pacific-12 Conference foes in 2015 when they face both Washington and Washington State. PSU lost in straight sets against both in 2014. Portland State fell by a combined 10 points against the Cougars on their home court. 
• The Big Sky Conference is in the second year of it's "un-balanced" schedule. Portland State will face everyone in the South Division (Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Southern Utah, Sacramento State, and Weber State) twice, both home and away. Portland State will face everyone in the North Division (Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, North Dakota, and Northern Colorado) just once, alternating home and away each season.
• The top team in each division will get the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the Big Sky Volleyball Tournament hosted by the No. 1 seed Nov. 19-21. Eight teams will earn seeds into the tournament with seeds 3-6 going to the next six best teams decided by conference record regardless of division.

PRESEASON TEAM NOTES
• Portland State returns the youngest team in the Big Sky Conference with just four returning letterwinners, all sophomores. Portland State adds nine newcomers for the 2015 season, seven freshmen. 
• Portland State returns no outside hitters from 2014, two graduated and two left the program. The four outside hitters, along with two middle blockers who also graduated, accounted for 1,018 of the teams 1,265 kills or 80.5 percent of the team's kill production. They also lost 62.1 percent of their total blocks from a year ago. 
• Portland State had its second lowest kills per set mark dating back to 1986. The Vikings averaged 12.16 kills per set in 2014, lowest since 1999 (11.86). 
• The Vikings will have to replace their all-time leader in digs and two-time Big Sky Libero of the Year, Kasimira "Kasi" Clark. Clark finished her career with 1,851 career digs. 
• Portland State went 9-20 overall and 7-9 on Big Sky play in 2014, their fewest win in each under Head Coach Michael Seemann
• Portland State hit .163 as a team while opponents hit .202 in 2014, both worst under Seemann.
