About PSU Cheer
Thank you for your interest in becoming a cheerleader at Portland State! It is very rewarding, but it is also a lot of work and a big time commitment. This small coed squad consists of males and females: bases, back spots, flyers, and partner stunters. The squad practices and attends team weightlifting three times a week.
The Cheer Squad also gets use of the Bob and Jane Morrow Academic Center for studying purposes and access to the Viking Varsity weight room. Another perk for Cheer Squad members are two complimentary tickets to each home Viking football game and four complimentary tickets for each home Viking Basketball game.
For the 2015-2016 season, the team will cheer all home football, and select road football games. There will also be an opportunity for team members to try out for the competition squad or be placed on the basketball squad.
The competition squad will practice in preparation for NCA nationals in Daytona Beach, FL, while the basketball squad will cheer at all home basketball games (2 per week). In addition to practice and cheering at games, the PSU cheer squad participates in many fundraisers and appearances throughout the community.Â
